The ALS Family Support Group held its annual Christmas party on Friday, December 12th at the Toland/Herzig Monarch Center. One of the many people who braved the icy streets to get there was Dixie Krupka of New Philadelphia, our organizations “2008 Volunteer of the Year”. Dixie has been at every event since the organization was formed and always steps up to the plate to help in whatever way she is needed. At the beginning of this year she took over getting out all of our flyers and invitations. There were over a thousand pieces of mail that she folded, stuffed, addressed and mailed. She is a great asset and we are honored to have her as a part of our organization. Thanks Dixie |

NEWS RELEASE
MDA TO WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH ALS FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP
The ALS Family Support Group of Ohio, Inc. has announced that they will be working in conjunction with the Akron branch of the Muscular Dystrophy Association in holding support group meetings. This is the MDA’s first official affiliation with a support group in the Tuscarawas County area. They will be represented by Gina Kilberg, their Health Care Service Coordinator. The meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in Union Hospital’s Reeves Auditorium in Dover. There is no cost to attend.
The ALS Family Support Group is based in New Philadelphia and has operated for the last four and a half years under the direction of Phyllis Van Horn. The organization will continue in its regular operation with no financial support from MDA. The only change will be the joining together in the support group meetings to provide expanded services for victims of ALS and other neuromuscular disorders, their families and caregivers. This is a perfect fit for both organizations.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the world leader among voluntary agencies in fighting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). MDA’s ALS Division offers the most comprehensive range of services of any voluntary health agency in the nation, and leads the search for a treatment or cure through its aggressive, worldwide research program.
It is about families, friends, moral support and sharing memories.
Our support group would like to share our fun events with you as well.
